The groom traditionally has fewer wedding responsibilities than the
bride, but your involvement is vital. The list below is designed to
help you organize the six months before your wedding.
6 MONTHS BEFORE
- Order you and your brides wedding rings.
- Start preparing your guest list.
- Arrange a visit with your clergy member or justice
of the peace.
- Discuss wedding expenses with fiancee and all parents.
- Determine how many groomsmen and ushers you will need.
- Discuss honeymoon plans with your fiancee and start
making transportation and hotel reservations.
- If you are traveling abroad, be sure to update your
passport.
3 MONTHS BEFORE
- Complete your guest list and give it to your fiancee.
- Choose your best man and determine any others needing
tuxedos; such as ushers, ringbearer, brides father, grooms
father and grandfathers.
- Visit The Tux Shop with your fiancee to select and
be fitted for your tuxedo.
- Register tuxedos for your wedding party. If any are
attending from out of town theres nothing to worry about. Mail-in
and email measurement forms are available.
- Double check with your wedding party that they have
been fitted for their tuxedos.
- Purchase your groomsmens gifts.
- Complete honeymoon plans and purchase tickets.
ONE MONTH BEFORE
- Plan where to have the rehersal dinner.
- Check with your fiancee on the boutonnieres for
men in the wedding party.
- Pick up brides ring and double check the engraving
for gifts.
- Arrange lodging for relatives and ushers from out of
town.
- Select a gift for your bride.
- Make sure necessary legal and medical documents are
in order.
- Make sure that all the men have ordered their formalwear.
2 WEEKS BEFORE
- Make a date with your fiancee to get your marriage
license. (You might take her to lunch at her favorite restaurant.)
- Check on arrangements for the bachelor dinner.
- Arrange with your best man for transportation from
the reception to the airport.
- Double check the honeymoon reservations and documents.
ONE WEEK BEFORE
- The groom traditionally presents gifts to his attendants
at the bachelor party or rehearsal dinner.
- Remind your best man and ushers of the rehearsal time
and place, and fill them in on rehearsal dinner details.
- Explain any special seating arrangements to the head
ushers.
- Put the clergy members or judges fee in
a sealed envelope and give it to the best man to deliver.
- Pack for your Honeymoon and choose clothes to change
into after the reception.
TWO DAYS BEFORE
- Arrange to have the wedding party come in for their
final tuxedo fitting. Have the men try everything on, right down to
the cufflinks. This allows time for any adjustments that need to be
made.
- Work out a plan with the best man to return your tuxedo
the day after the wedding.
- Have fun, relax and enjoy the moment!
